Spoilers Ahead, as per usual.
I have been terrible about keeping up with my True Blood reviews, I know. Blame it on the Summer Holiday! I did, however, watch the season finale. And I thought it was... Ok.
There were definitely good aspects -- like the level of suspense I felt when Sam was being offered up as a sacrifice by Mary Anne and her followers (really did not care for that storyline, BTW). Now, if they had killed my favorite belt-buckled shape-shifter, then I would have definitely hated the episode. But luckily he finds a way to shape shift into the very "God" that Mary Anne is trying to invoke, and proceeds to rip her heart out of her chest all violent and bloody-like. It's quite a spectacle... so I was confused when I looked at the clock and realized that the show was not even half-way over.
I was sooooooo glad to see this chick die. Goodbye, boring sub-plot.The most boring part of the episode, to me, was the ending with Sookie and Bill going to the French restaurant. I don't really get why Sookie was so emotional when he asked her to marry him. And why did it take going to the ladies room and trying on the ring to change her mind? It all seemed a bit simplistic to me. I was pretty relieved, however, when it turned out that Bill had been kidnapped while she was "freshening up." I really don't like it when characters get married. No way, no how. I would stop watching it instantly.
As it is... I will still tune in for season 3.

I was very disgruntled with the episode. And the more I think about it, the more irritated I am. Crap like Bill proposing to Sookie so did not happen in the books and in the original story Bill wasn't even in the fight with MaryAnn who was only in Bon Temps because of the vampires in the first place. In the book, Sam and Maryann were close so I have always found it odd that they chose him as her target. Eric was the one that went with Sookie to save the day...in pink lyrca at that. I am robbed of the lyrca scene! haha. Eric is also the one that sends Sookie gifts, but Allen Ball robbed Eric of that as well. *grumps* Have I mentioned how much I do not like Bill lately?
No, they are not spoilers, Lisa, because it was book plot which they will never be able to use since they screwed that SL way up.
That being said, of course I will be watching next season too. :P
I love that everyone that used to love Bill hates him now. LOL.
And I think there should have definitely been more Sookie/Eric interaction in the final. Books or no. She and Bill have no chemistry as far as I am concerned -- and it probably has to do with the fact that they are together in real life. If I was a director, I would forbid that.
But yeah, totally can't miss the next season. Because I am addicted in that evil way that is reserved for soap operas. Hehe.
